Tell us a bit about yourself!

I'm an international student from Vietnam - a small but fascinating country in South East Asia. I am a PAL Leader for the Computer Animation Art & Design course at Bournemouth University. My PAL leader when I was a first year helped everyone in our course tremendously, I was very motivated by such enthusiasm and friendliness that they could bring in the course. I hope to contribute to our work environment and share my own experience with other people, to make their first year more enjoyable.

What are you most looking forward to about the conference?

"I'm really looking forward to meeting other PALs from universities across the country and learn new skills to run sessions better, as well as having fun!"

top tip for  running pal

Try to engage with the first-year in person, be friendly and talk to them to find out what their specific needs are.

"I was able to sign-post a student to one of our course-mate who can help her to enhance her portfolio and get in touch with people in the industry."

What is the best experience you've had so far as a PAL Leader?

What skills do you think you will develop from attending the conference?

"By attending the conference I hope I will be able to learn how to manage a large group of people and encourage them to share ideas."

"An activity that has worked well in one of my sessions is the Grandma's Suitcase ice breaker game where, in a circle, the first person has to introduce themselves and their favourite thing. The next person repeats what the previous one said and does thae same task, then we move on until reaching full circle. Every student had a chance to talk about themselves and get to know their peers."
